HAPPINEZ IBIZA
With Aritmo and Gazelle Pomax is using the lost wax technique again. Just as when making batik in textile, the pattern is applied to the unglazed porcelain using a stamp and wax. The piece is then dipped into a reactive glaze. This, in turn, is fired at a very high temperature, melting away the wax, revealing the pattern, and giving the glaze a certain thickness. In the case of Aritmo, there is a repetitive drawing on the matte exterior, while the interior is plain. The porcelain itself, which becomes visible again between the glaze lines, is baked at 1300°C. Thus, there is no risk of staining from the use of certain food products.
